Medical Case Conferences
Medical Case Conferences provide an opportunity to discuss and resolve differences of medical opinion related to a Workers’ Compensation claim.
Principles for Medical Case Conferencing include:
- Having injured workers more involved in the medical aspect of their Workers’ Compensation claim, and ensuring their concerns are heard.
- Providing a dispute resolution process to address disagreements in medical opinion through a discussion aimed at reaching consensus.
If the disputed medical opinion is not resolved through a Medical Case Conference, this discussion can help refine questions and other information sent to:
- A future Medical Panel.
- The WCB and/or the Appeals Commission.
The Medical Panels Office establishes case conference procedures, as per Section 8 of the Medical Panels Regulation. These processes are under development.
